This is a calendar of Hokkaido’s Time to Eat. You might order your menu at the restaurant referencing these marine products.
Why Hokkaido’s fishes are so tasty?
Because Hokkaido is surrounded by the sea such as Japan sea, Pacific Ocean and Okhotsk Sea, so there are many good fishing place. The ‘Oyashio’ flow through Pacific Ocean from south-west to north-east, which contains plentiful plankton for feeding fish. In the winter, drift Ice appears off coast of east Hokkaido from Russia in Okhotsk Sea, which brings water containing an abundance of nutrients for fishes. And more, due to cold and rough water, fishes are about to stock fat inside and also will become firm and flavorful.
