Hoheikyo in Autumn, surrounded by Red, Yellow and Deep Green
Hoheikyo is full of life surrounded by Autumn colors. It is still warm in the city of Sapporo, but here, in Houheikyo, it’s chilly because of stiff wind in October. Many were wearing on warm jacket or overcoat, some were putting on down coat. After a short autumn, winter comes soon covered tons of heavy snow. So, it is time to see and enjoy Autumn of Houheikyo. This is the famous place for viewing Autumn leaves in Sapporo. Not only local people also many foreign tourists are coming here. There is a dam called ‘Jozan-ko’, the lake Jozan. The dam has important role for the citizens of Sapporo, which provides drinking water, power and flood disaster prevention.
There is a restaurant over the dam. A small lift car is available to get there, but it takes just 3 or 5 minutes by walking. Of course I know it is fun for little children to get on the car.
There are many people here. You can rest inside house or have a seat outside terrace for ‘Jingisukan’. The house is heated, so that you can warm yourself.
A nice view from outside terrace. Jingisukan might be ready for you.
There is a more view point by 10-15minutes walking to the top of view, if you like it.
After 10-15 min, You will see the small hut, which Japanese usually call ‘Azumaya’.
