It takes 40 minutes from Sapporo central area, then you can enjoy powder snow! Sapporo Teine Ski Area is the place held Winter Olympic Game in 1972. It used to be two ski areas, Teine highland and Teine Olympia. Sapporo Teine Ski Area merged them in 2005. In the Olympic game, Slalom and Giant Slalom were held at Teine Highland, now we call ‘Highland zone’ and Luge and Bobsled were held at Teine Olympia as ‘Olympia zone’. Even now, Slalom and Giant Slalom courses in Highland zone and the cauldron in Olympia zone are still there. Sapporo Teine Ski Area is one of the best ski area in Sapporo. The most long slope is about 6,000 meters distance. From beginners to experts can enjoy skiing or snowboarding on these slopes. Rental wears and ski/snowboard’s equipments packages are available so that you need nothing except your body and money. In the middle of season, December to February, there are much powder snow at the top of Highland. If the weather condition is nice, more freezed and fresh snow falls , everywhere there is powder snow in Sapporo Teine Ski Area, Not Only Niseko. If you come with a little children or beginners, you might go to ‘Olympia zone’. Every slope is more gentle than Highland’s one. Challenging a Olympic course, you can move from Olympia to Highland by gondola in a few minutes. That’s easy to move. - From Shin-Chitose Airport via the Hokkaido Expressway, exit from Teine I.C. It takes about 60 minutes.
- Sasson Expressway: From Teine IC, approx 7 minutes
- From the Sapporo Central Area, it takes about 40 minutes.
