Lake Kuttarako(倶多楽湖)

This place is written as [倶多楽湖(くったらこ)] in Japanese.

Lake Kuttarako lacks public transportation options, necessitating a taxi or car rental for access due to limited tourism development.

It is a circular caldera lake nestled within Shikotsu-Toya National Park, renowned for its exceptionally clear water, considered the highest quality in Japan. Its transparency ranks second only to Lake Mashu.

The lake lacks inlet or outlet rivers and supports a sparse aquatic population. However, since 1909, Sockeye salmon have been introduced and cultivated here. From mid-May to late July, visitors can enjoy fishing using rental boats.
